Global Community 🇺🇸🇲🇽🇦🇷🇮🇱 ✨
This past December I had the opportunity of traveling to Buenos Aires with fellow young #Jewish adult #leaders of the #Midwest and experience Jewish Argentina with JDC Entwine. Making us the first cohort to #travel to this location post #pandemic.
During the trip we learned about the work the JDC (The Joint) is currently doing in Argentina and throughout Latin America and the rest of the world. We visited local #organizations, #nonprofits, #schools and #businesses with the purpose of gaining a deeper understanding of Argentinian #culture and #immigrant history, Jewish Argentinian #history as well as the current situation of the country and how it applies to the local #JewishCommunity as a whole.
As a #Bilingual#Mexican and #American Jewish person of color, this was an amazing life changing experience that allowed me to live first hand what a global community looks like while creating opportunity for international leadership. It was a pleasure to meet and chat with #Holocaust survivors and learn about their stories of survival, adaptation in a new country and how they continue to thrive in the community thanks to organizations such as Fundación Tzedaká and the Museo del Holocausto de Buenos Aires.
Not to mention visiting AMIA and learning about its history and their role in #Argentina and the actions taken for the #wellbeing of the #communitiesthroughout the nation. As well as visiting local businesses and meeting local #YoungLeaders, who are taking #action through their vision of what the #future of Argentina looks like for them and for the Jewish #community.
Overall, this was an amazing experience that helped me learn more about myself, my history and who I am. As well as #inspiring me to continue taking action in #leadership as part of a #GlobalCommunity and continue making change in a positive way. Thank you the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and the St. Paul Jewish Federation for creating and supporting programs like #YALA (Young Adult Leadership in Action), where I have been serving as a member of Steering Circle (#board) for the last two years, which granted me the opportunity to form part of the #Minnesota 2022 cohort.
